Fertility Preservation

Egg Freezing

It is the fertility preservation process of storing a woman’s unfertilized eggs. Many women are delaying pregnancy until their late 30s and early 40s. Often, they are surprised and distressed when they learn they no longer have eggs of optimal quality that will produce a pregnancy because they waited too long. The technology of Cryo-vitrification gives women the chance to freeze their eggs while they are younger, preserve their fertility, and reduce the chances of miscarriage and birth defects associated with “egg age.”

Sperm Freezing

It is the process of freezing and storing male sperms in the cryopreservation tank at -196⁰C temperature that can be used later to fertilize eggs. Frozen sperms can be used for Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) if its post-thaw quality is good enough. If the sperm quality is reduced due to illness or other factors, it might be necessary to undertake In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

Anyone diagnosed with cancer where the recommended treatment (Chemotherapy/ Radiotherapy) may affect sperm/egg production should consider sperm/egg freezing.
