4 Years of Waiting: Bunda Maya’s Insemination Journey at Bocah Indonesia Ends in Joy

4 Years of Waiting Bunda Maya’s Insemination Journey at Bocah Indonesia Ends in Joy

The journey to parenthood was far from easy for Bunda Maya and her husband. Unlike most couples, their path to having a child was longer and filled with unexpected turns. But after 4 years of waiting, their dream finally came true with a positive pregnancy test.

Their journey began when they attended Bocah Fertility Week 2023, an annual event organized by Bocah Indonesia to commemorate National Fertility Day on November 2. That event sparked a sense of hope, and with full determination, the couple decided to begin their fertility journey at Bocah Indonesia.

Diagnosed with Hydrosalpinx and Uterine Polyps

Before starting the program, Bunda Maya underwent a hysteroscopy to assess the condition of her uterus. The procedure revealed two issues:

  • Hydrosalpinx: Her right fallopian tube was open (patent), while the left was partially blocked.
Hydrosalpinx is a condition where fluid builds up in the fallopian tubes, preventing fertilization by blocking the egg and sperm from meeting.

  • Uterine Polyps: These are abnormal tissue growths found in the uterine lining (endometrium). While usually benign, in rare cases, polyps can become malignant if left untreated.

Despite these challenges, Bunda Maya remained hopeful. She was guided through the process by dr. Febriyan Nicolas, Sp.OG, M.Kes, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist, and her husband was supported by dr. Tiara Kirana, Sp.And, a specialist in andrology.

Choosing the Insemination (IUI) Path

Following their consultations, the couple decided to pursue intrauterine insemination (IUI) as their next step. They continued regular follow-ups at Bocah Indonesia, trusting the advice of their doctors and holding onto the hope of finally seeing two lines on a pregnancy test.

Despite life’s unpredictability, they remained patient.

One day, Bunda Maya had to accompany her husband to the airport for a three-month work assignment in Romania. With his departure, she felt emotionally uncertain about their chances of success. However, just one day after his departure, she decided to take a pregnancy test—and to her amazement, it was positive.

Their long-awaited baby was born on February 14, 2025, a day filled with love and joy.

A Message of Hope

The medical challenges faced by Bunda Maya and her husband didn’t stop them from pursuing their dream of becoming parents. Thanks to their unwavering effort, patience, and support from the medical team at Bocah Indonesia, their small family now enjoys the joyful presence of their baby every single day.

To all parents-in-waiting: Don’t give up. Keep your spirit strong. At Bocah Indonesia, we believe
