Doppler spectrum is a tool that emits high-frequency sound waves used to assess the circulation condition of blood cells.

When Moms and Dads want to examine the condition of blood vessels and blood flow, it can be done through the Doppler ultrasound procedure. As the name suggests, the procedure is done using Doppler spectrum. Its purpose is certainly to assist doctors in diagnosing conditions such as damage or blockages in blood vessels.

Are There Any Requirements for Using Doppler Devices?

Basically, there are no specific preparations for conducting examinations using Doppler devices. However, it is recommended not to smoke for two hours before the examination. This is because nicotine consumption can narrow blood vessels, which can affect Doppler examination results.

However, for examinations using certain types of Doppler such as abdominal Doppler ultrasound to detect blood flow problems in the liver; kidneys; and pancreas, patients will be asked to fast for several hours before undergoing the examination.

Nevertheless, this examination does not cause any effects or risks, so it is safe even if performed when Moms are pregnant.

Doppler examinations assist doctors in diagnosing a disease condition for clearer and more accurate results. However, Moms and Dads must still follow the doctor’s instructions.
