6 Doppler Functions to Monitor Blood Flow
Doppler spectrum is a tool that emits high-frequency sound waves used to assess the circulation condition of blood cells.
When Moms and Dads want to examine the condition of blood vessels and blood flow, it can be done through the Doppler ultrasound procedure. As the name suggests, the procedure is done using Doppler spectrum. Its purpose is certainly to assist doctors in diagnosing conditions such as damage or blockages in blood vessels.
If Moms and Dads are still confused, let’s take a look at the explanation of Doppler functions for ultrasound.
What Are the Doppler Spectrum Functions?
The main function of Doppler is to determine whether there is a disturbance in blood flow or not. This also assists doctors in diagnosing certain disease conditions. In addition, Doppler spectrum also has functions in the medical field, such as:
Detecting damage to blood vessels or structural defects in the heart
Tanya Ferly tentang Promil?
Detecting if there are arteries that bulge or aneurysms
Detecting if there is arterial blockage or arterial occlusion
Detecting if there is arterial narrowing in the neck or carotid artery stenosis
To detect arterial narrowing in the arms and legs or peripheral artery disease (PAD)
Assisting in detecting blood flow blockages in the legs or deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Furthermore, Doppler also functions to assist doctors in diagnosing heart diseases and determining the condition of patients experiencing blood flow disturbances or not.
Are There Any Requirements for Using Doppler Devices?
Basically, there are no specific preparations for conducting examinations using Doppler devices. However, it is recommended not to smoke for two hours before the examination. This is because nicotine consumption can narrow blood vessels, which can affect Doppler examination results.
However, for examinations using certain types of Doppler such as abdominal Doppler ultrasound to detect blood flow problems in the liver; kidneys; and pancreas, patients will be asked to fast for several hours before undergoing the examination.
Nevertheless, this examination does not cause any effects or risks, so it is safe even if performed when Moms are pregnant.
Doppler examinations assist doctors in diagnosing a disease condition for clearer and more accurate results. However, Moms and Dads must still follow the doctor’s instructions.
Thus is the explanation regarding Doppler spectrum functions. This examination will be recommended by the doctor if Moms and Dads experience symptoms or signs of the mentioned conditions above. Make sure not to self-diagnose, immediately consult a doctor.
